Picked up my first Chromebook
When the old-school Netbooks no longer cut it
I needed a cheap laptop to do some basic tasks and decided that a Chromebook would fit my current need perfectly. I had used Netbooks in the past, but this would be my first Chromebook.
As luck would have it there was a relatively decent selection of them at my local retailer and I selected the single AMD-powered device that they had available.
It’s a 14” HP Chromebook 14-db0023dx which has the ability to run Debian on it and supposedly also has a long support life which are both massive pluses for me.
The specs for it are about what you’d expect out of a device of this calibre:
- AMD A4-Series (A4-9120C 1.6 GHz APU)
- 4GB Memory
- AMD Radeon R4
- 32GB eMMC Flash Memory
Setup was easy and it is pretty responsive even with the specs listed above. Overall, I am pretty pleased with the Chromebook and plan on using it for many years to come on various projects.
