Checking out the Drop ENTR Mechanical Keyboard with Halo True switches

My first impression of Halo True switches

My latest purchase is the Drop ENTR, a Tenkeyless (TKL) mechanical keyboard, that looks pretty sleek in my opinion. It has a black anodized aluminum case, plate-mounted Cherry-style stabilizers, white LED back-lights paired with nice looking double-shot PBT shine through keycaps, and Halo True switches.

I waited for the ENTR to go on sale before purchasing it and I must admit that I mostly bought it so that I could try out the Halo True switches that you are able to get with it (and partially so I could finally have a backlit keyboard if I’m being honest). It came in a nicely packaged box complete with a keycap puller which was a nice little bonus despite already having a few.

When I initially started using the keyboard I must admit that I didn’t really the switches all that much. The Halo True switches felt “mushy” to me and potentially a little on the heavier side of things then I’m used too while also not feeling as tactile as some of my other switches that I prefer to use.

After using them for awhile I did get used to them though, so Halo Trues are definitely a switch that have a bit of a break in period it seems although I’m sure not everyone is going to like them. They also seem somewhat ideal for someone who is just doing a bunch of typing, but as far as gaming goes I’ll probably continue to use my other keyboards.
